Hello Book lovers !!
I was provided a copy of this book by the author in exchange of an honest review.
Author : Elias Zanbaka
Genre : Thriller, Action
Goodreads Rating : 3.7/5
Page Count : 19
Synopsis : A highly unstable army veteran suffering from PTSD is hell-bent on waging his own personal war against Mother Nature. He is the number one target being hunted down by the police in the city of Los Angeles as he rampages through the city in an attempt to provoke such a powerful and overwhelming force as Mother Nature into a highly personal battle. Out of that entire police force, only one officer has gone against the grain and become intent, almost to the point of equal obsession in helping that army veteran to do the impossible and bring Mother Nature to its knees.
REVIEW
To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive going into this short story. As much as I like action thrillers, short stories in this genre usually tend to have more action and less substance. They also never have a satisfying end. However, this one did not disappoint at all.
The story begins with a chase and the pace doesn’t slow down from there. Sgt. Major Bushell (aka the target) is an army veteran who suffers from PTSD. As we find out through the story, he has escaped from the psychiatric unit and is adamant on destroying nature. As the police chase the target, Sergeant Schaeffer is the only one intent on helping Bushell, instead of locking him down. Anymore details would turn into a spoiler, so let’s leave it at this.
If you love fast paced action thrillers as much as me, you’ll definitely love this story. Despite being in a reading slump, I couldn’t stop reading all 19 pages in one sitting (I could barely read 2 or 3 pages of anything else). It’s a very well-written, gripping tale (even if that sounds cliche, it’s true) and conveys its message across beautifully. I truly hope Elias Zanbaka writes a novel or novella soon. His writing keeps the reader thoroughly engaged.
Reasons to read this book –
- You love fast-paced action-packed thrillers
- You need to get out of a reading slump and this might help
- You need a shorter read to take a break from all those HUGE tomes you read
- You know someone who suffers from PTSD (even if it’s yourself)
- You want an adrenaline rush without leaving that couch
MY RATING : 😍😍😍😮😍

There are quite a few people who apparently found it confusing. I don’t know how. This could actually be made into a short film.

I fully grasped the concept and thought it was well written. And it would be good as a short film!
