Hello lovelies !!
How’s everyone doing ? 2 days into college and I’m already having a hectic time. Anyway, here I am, doing another tag post. I was tagged by Jamie at The Last Page to do the Guilty Reader Book Tag. Thanks for tagging me, Jamie !!
1. Have you ever re-gifted a book that you’ve been gifted ?
A: No I haven’t. However bad the book is, it’s a gift and the person went through the trouble of finding a book for me because they remembered that I’m an avid reader and loves books. I appreciate that effort. So I almost never re-gift ANYTHING that has been gifted to me.
2. Have you ever said you’ve read a book when you haven’t ?
A: No I haven’t. Why would I ever do that ?? Also, I hate people who do this. It’s very easy to know you’re lying and you don’t need to do that to have a good conversation.
3. Have you ever borrowed a book and not returned it ?
A: Again, no. However, I do have a book on my shelf that my uncle borrowed from a relative 2 years back and I’ve been hoping I’d run into that relative some time soon so that I can return it. It’s very irritating to keep someone else’s book. I did call them and tell them I want to go over to their place and return it, but they aren’t avid readers, so they’re apparently in absolutely no hurry to get it back. Hopefully I can go over this weekend and return it.
4. Have you ever read a series out of order ?
A: Unfortunately, yes, but that was unknowingly. I picked up a book from Isaac Asimov’s Robot series and after reading half of the book, I realised it was the 4th in the series. I’m yet to complete the series.
5. Have you ever spoiled a book for someone ?
A: No I haven’t and I’m so proud of that. The moment someone says they haven’t read a book, I just stop talking about the book. The max I say is “Oh, it’s good. You should definitely read it” or “Let me know what you think of it, once you read it”.
6. Have you ever doggy eared a book ?
A: I don’t dog-ear novels. I use bookmarks or receipts or random pieces of paper or cloth. However, I have dog-eared textbooks in the past.
7. Have you ever told someone you don’t own a book when you do ?
A: I don’t really remember, maybe I’ve said this to someone who I didn’t want to lend a book to. However, I usually use other excuses like saying someone else has borrowed it or something. I don’t like lending books to people who never plan on reading them. They just ask and then neither read nor return it. It’s just forgotten. My precious books don’t deserve that.
8. Have you ever skipped a chapter or a section of a book ?
A: Yes, definitely. I skip sections when the story seems to be too dragged. Books that spend a lot of pages on unimportant stuff are annoying. So, I skip the parts where they are just going on and on about some random stuff that doesn’t matter and holds absolutely no interest to me. Usually happens in books with multiple plot lines.
9. Have you ever bad mouthed a book you actually liked ?
A: NEVER. Why would I ? If I liked a book, I liked it. I don’t care if I’m the only one in the entire world who liked it. For example, I know many people who didn’t like Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi. Some find the writing unoriginal, some say the battle scenes seem to be copied from the movie 300, yet others just don’t find the writing to be good enough. Despite all of that, I loved those books and I’m not apologetic for that. I think Amish did a great job. I don’t read a book solely for “quality literature”, sometimes it’s to understand the world around me a little better, at other times it’s to make myself feel happier or lighter, to forget my worries and I appreciate books that connect emotionally even if the writing isn’t the best.
